Summary: The responsibility is great, but it's one that she embraces.

Kikyou is glad to have a teaching career. The responsibility is great, but it's one that she embraces. Helping the younger generation to fulfill their potential is a challenge that she enjoys. Every time one of her students does well, she can't help but feel proud, knowing that her efforts have been well spent.

Making up new lesson plans every day, that will keep her charges engaged and interested in the subject matter, is like putting together complex and satisfying puzzles. Now and then, though, one of them will approach Kikyou with a problem that they're having with the material. Then, she goes the extra mile, determined that none of the young people she's responsible for will rate a flunking grade. A student who fails is a sign, in her eyes, that the teacher has failed.

Some of her students, however, make things a little too challenging. One class in particular makes Kikyou feel like tearing her hair out sometimes, they bring her so much stress.

When she's not scolding Miroku for flirting with every female student who crosses his path--or sending him to the school infirmary to get patched up when they justifiably act to defend themselves--then Kikyou has her hands full keeping Inuyasha and Kouga from tearing each other's throats out. She's not quite sure what the two boys have against each other; but she strongly suspects that it has something to do with Kagome, who appears to be somewhat oblivious, her attention being more focused on her assignments.

Teaching is a wonderful profession, and Kikyou wouldn't trade it for anything. Sometimes, though, she finds herself sorely tempted.
