Summary: What a silly old joke, I did tell myself

I dare you now to open this magic book
And at its deep secrets take a good look
But be forewarned ere you should begin
Great dangers are contained herein
Be sure what you summon you yet can put down
Else deep in despair your spirit shall drown

That was the message held in the strange note
That some bizarre prankster surely to me wrote
On a package delivered to me after dark
Of sender and return address bearing no mark
What a silly old joke, I did tell myself
As I planned to thumb through, then consign to a shelf

But once the book was opened, oh, mercy me
The peculiar things inside I did see
And then there was nothing else that I could do
Seeing odd little rhymes, I read over a few
And now there's a demon living in my house
So whatever jerk sent me this book is a louse

LOL! Yeah, no-one who sends you a magic book is your friend. They just want to get you in trouble. And demons can often make bad roommates.
